As the band's name reveals the music is a mix between different styles of heavy metal. The band's main influences are bands like Dream Theater, Kamelot. Rush, Iron Maiden, Pagan's Mind, Manowar etc. What makes Metal Merge's music interesting and unique is the different backgrounds of the two songwriters Ville Flodén and Roger Nyman.  Ville comes from more of a straight forward heavy metal background while Roger is oriented towards progressive rock from the 70's.

The band records digitally using Cubase. Ville plays an Ibanez guitar and Roger a standard Fender Jazz Bass. Since Metal Merge is a constitution of only two persons the drums and synths are programmed. Ville writes all the vocal melodies and Roger's speciality is arranging stuff.
