4 - The case ends

You can now choose if you shall present all the evidence to the police to try to free Hellouin or if you want to solve the case all by yourself. This way you can get three different endings.

A - Gus presents full evidence to Lebrun and Hellouin is freed

The Police Station

Go to the Police Station and walk directly to Lebrun's room. Talk to him. It is important that you choose your lines so that you are able to deliver all the evidence you have found.
Choose these lines:

You have got very little on Hellouin...
Your charge of murder...
We have been barking...
The Whytes do not exist...
Ruby and Regis are not their real names...
A letter. A letter signed Sophia Blake...
This is the Whytes modus operandi...
I am not sure I doubt...
If you have any doubts...
Stop protecting de Allepin...
Here you are...
Inspector Lebrun, what I have shown you...
This is the murder weapon...
De Allepin is dead...
De Allepin looks to have died peacefully...
If de Allepin has been dead...
One gold, one brass...
That is too much...
A couple of anonymous sources...
With them you can start...
You heard his story...
But Inspector Hellouin and Hulot never met...
I continue to doubt his guilt...
I hope these clues...

If Lebrun is satisfied with your evidence he sends for Hellouin and asks you to leave the room. You have convinced him and Hellouin is freed.
Go to de Allepin's house.

De Allepin's house

When you get there you see Sophia hanging upside down from the ceiling.
Kaufner (or de Allepin in Kaufner's body) comes down from upstairs pointing at you with his gun.
What is going to happen, depends on what you say to him, but it makes no difference if you call him Kaufner or de Allepin.
You can choose between destroying the head or return it to him.

A1 - Gus destroys the head

If you choose a line meaning that you are going to destroy the head, Gus throws the head onto the floor and smashes it.
Kaufner is desperate and tries to pick it up.
Gus takes his pistol and knocks him out. Then he throws the pistol away and leaves.
Sophia cries for help. Gus says he is going to send her a bill and that he is sure the police will be there soon.
You'll hear Gus talk to Hellouin who has been let out from jail.

A2 - Gus returns the head

If you choose a line meaning that you are going to return the head Gus kneels at the floor and carefully puts the head down. Kaufner/de Allepin takes the head. He points his pistol at Gus. He won't let Gus live now when he knows the secret.
But before he can shoot, there is a shot from the door and Kaufner falls down dead.
Hellouin has been freed and is showing his gratitude. Together they leave for Alambic and Bébé.

B - Gus cannot convince Lebrun or does not go to the Police

De Allepin's house

B1 - Gus destroys the head

If you go directly to de Allepin's house or if you go to the police but fail to produce full evidence Lebrun won't send for Lebrun and you have to go out searching for more evidence.
You can do that, or you can go directly to de Allepin's house.
It all starts as in case A.

If you choose to destroy the head all ends just like case A1. Gus knocks Kaufner down and you can then hear him talking to Hellouin who has been freed since Gus has solved the case.

B2- Gus returns the head

If Gus chooses to return the head Kaufner shoots him as soon as he has taken care of the head.
He also shoots Sophia where she is hanging.
You then hear Beauvais talking to Mrs. Hellouin telling her that Jacques will be executed next morning.

All cases

Regardless of what ending you have chosen the last scene is always the same.
Bébé is selling her copy of the head to Mrs. Loiseau.
Both seem very pleased with the transaction.
