Magnus' Astronomy page

What is this site about? This is my astronomy site. Here you find photos that I have taken of astronomical objects, reflections on experiences of watching the sky, information about my equipment and related issues.
Who am I? I am a swedish amateur astronomer, psychologist by profession, living in Malmö in the south of Sweden.
My equipment My first SCT (Schmidt Cassegrain Telescope) was a Celstron C5+. In the summer of 2000 I upgraded to a Celestron C8 orange tube on a Vixen Great Polaris mount.
More about my equipment.

C5+ photos
The moon at prime focus, exposed with a piece of cardboard with a smaller hole taped on the telescope, to shut down the opening, and allowing for longer exposures that could be done without the camera shutter. In this case, exposure was about 1/2 sec, with another piece of cardoard held in front of the scope.
M42, prime focus, with Meade reducer f/6.3. The problems with the RA drive caused the drift that you can see on this picutre. In fact, this is the best I managed to take before the drive was replaced by Celestron.
C8 photos
(from summer 2000):
The moon at prime focus with a 2x Barlow
M57, Ring nebula
M27, Dumbbell nebula
M56, Globular cluster in Sagitta
Comet LINEAR, 1999 S4.
M 31, Andromeda galagy. Large object, larger then field of view even at f 6.3.
NGC 7331, a "nearby" sprial galaxy.
