Converting gearbox for speedodrive

This is a short discription of how you can modifie the 265 gearbox to drive the 02 speedo.
First thing to check to see if this is possible is to look at the endcover of the gearbox to see if it is prepared for speedo.

First remove the output flange. Remove the looking washer, then undo the nut (30 mm, need long socket). Remove the flang and the seal.
After having removed the seal you will find a thick distance ring (lower part on pic.), pull that one out. This ring should be replaced with the upper parts on the pic. (washers and gear.) The upper two washers could be replaced by one thicker washer. Total thickness of washer/s should be 2.5 mm.
Next step is to remove the plugg in the speedo hole. Tap it with a screwdriver on the outher edge to flip it in the hole then pull it out out with a plier.
Now its time to put it all togehter again. This is the order the part should go in: Washer/s, speedogear, seal, flange, nut (with Loctite 270), locking washer. * Tork the nut to 100 Nm.
Next put in the gearaxle and the holder for the speedocable.
Now change the gearbox oil and clean up the garage.

* These parts can be found in a old 02 gearbox if you dont want to buy them new.
** Gear can be used from 02 but the holder and its washers are different.
