I thought I would show you all how I go about when creating a sprite.
Before march 2000, I used the oldest method when creatíng a sprite, by pixeling it from the scratch without a base. I'd also like to say that the Sigma sprite I made (which came 2nd place in the GSC2 contest), was made this way, pixel by pixel, the hard way. But then on march 2000, Sabbre aka Grenzenlos mailed me a drawing of a sprite by the name Glacier Orca (drawn by Wire Scorpion). And that's when I came up with the idea of scanning pictures and pixel upon them, using the scetch itself as guidelines. Except for maybe Capcom, I've been told that I was the first in the whole Megaman Community on the net who started using this technique, (at least that's what I've been told). I'm kinda proud of that.

22 SEPTEMBER 2002 Now to the spriting:
1) First I draw a picture, and I have to remember to draw it so that it looks like a megaman figure. Legs are bigger, can't look like a human, and stuff like that. Afterwards I scan the picture and start to pixel upon it, using its drawn lines as guidelines, in Adobe Photoshop.
This is what I mean by using a picture for a base.

2) Second, I color the whole thing and add details. The shading is very important the bigger the sprite is, and so are the details. This sprite of Sigma, I made a little too big though. Sometimes I have to change the colors several times before it's good. And I often also ask other people what they think I should change with the sprite to improve it. But as you can see I put too little effort in his style, therefore it didn't turn out as well as I hoped it would.
