11/10 We just arrived to Parka at 1600/1700. The trip up whent well. We heard Alaska and Japan at once when Stefan turned on his radio that was already plugged in. I have now plugged in my stuff and will now update this page every day. Torvald came over with "Lapp boiled raindeer" and potato. And Rolle also came by.
12/10 Slept until 01.40 UTC and then it started to hear some weak signals. There had been a lot of Latin Americans earlier accoring to Stefan. 1690 IL and 1690 GA heard with strong signal. A lot of other x-band stations was also heard. A very good night with good signals all morning. Just discoverd that one of my receivers don't work to record from. Lost a few hours of recordings there on 1470 (probably Ohio). There was 3 degrees below at night.
13/10 THere was a few NA to 02.30 UTC when everything when dead. Then some LA was heard. This was a coronahole that coused this. The weather now at 07.30 UTC is very nice and sunny. And the stations are now coming back. A lot of east coast was heard. And later it turned to the west coast and Alaska/Hawaii. Then when Guam was heard nothing felt imposible. I got a mail from OJS that had heard incredible things from the Pacific. Congratulations! Later a lot of Japanese stations was heard with good signals (how about that MNÄ). Did't not get id on them.
14/10 Thought we were going to get some daytimers but it died out. Then went to sleep instead. Woke up and then the power was out. But it got back very shortly after that. THen the time was 0600. Several but waek signals. Better signal later. Good Alaska at 13.00 UTC with 640 and 1450. Stefan improved the ground on the 335 antenna. I made lunch. Later Leif came by. We had some coffe and the we took a quick sauna bath.
15/10 Signals earlier than usualy. Checked a few stations on 1520 that payed off. The signals whent away and came back after 30 minutes at times. I slept most of the morning, as I did'nt sleep to much yesterday. Eilert came by later. He was going to mark out an trail in the wood tomorrow. He suggested that I would tag along. But I did'nt feel like going out. And I had to check some of my recordings as well. Called Rolle later that evening. If Parka IK would win there last game in soccer, they would go up to Div. 4.
16/10 Only week LA-signals after midnigt. Kindex had been very high yesterday. The sky was full of boreales. NA was heard again after 08.00. Later Borje "Parka IK" Andersson came by and told us about his acting in a new movie (at the cinema in December). That was fun.
17/10 The night was similar to yeasterday. Mostly slept. It was better at 04.30 for an houre. Very good Alaska in the middle of the day. Heard in 15 minutes 21 Alaska, 1 Hawaii and 2 North West Terretories. Then a lot of Alaskan station was still closed. Later that afternoon Eilert came by and invited us to dinner. So I checked the Japanse one last time and then walked to the moose dinner. On our way home we visited Göran and the dog Raj. Stefan and I ended the night with a whiskey. But I soon had to go up again becouse Rolle and Bettan arrived. So we sat up and talked for some time over a few beers.
18/10 The night seems to have been bad. Stefan did not report anything and when I woke up it was all dead. So this must have been the worst night so far. At 08.00 UTC Alaska started to shoing up. And soon there after the first snow came. So now it's all white outside. Then the harddrive on one of my computers died. So now I have reinstalled windows and fixed the HD problem. I needed to do that for a long time, so now it is made. We saw 3 eagles when we were working on the antennas today. What a sight!
Then we whent to Sturks Livs for a final shoping at there stor before they closed it up. Later that night we was invited to Rolle and Bettan for dinner. When we got back to the school Roland and Tore came by for a visit. Also Simon with 3 cousins.
19/10 Another bad night with week signals at times. Jari was now on the way here. He should be here at lunch.
He arrived at 10. I made us some lunch. The usual Alaska/Hawaii was heard for a half houre.
20/10 The night was like the others with a small top. We have now a strong electric disturbence. The now know that it comes from a 40 KV powerline about 3 km from here. It delivers power to Finland. It probably comes especaly with big temprature changes. It was 10 degrees below to night.
Tomorrow I will leave Stefan and Jari and head home to Swe... Uppsala again. Then we'll make a suprice dinner at home. Goran have been hunting this week! :-)
21/10 Now it's time to rap it up. Stefan will go home with me and Jari will leav also. The sun has killed all signals and it will get even wors. We were lucky that had such a good weekend when we arrived. This will be the last update from Parkalompolo. Now all updates to the log will be made from home.
