Slöinge Project
|
A chieftain settlement dated to AD 400-1000 has been excavated during the period 1992 - 1996. The site is located in the Southwest of Sweden and has served as a political and religious central place. In October 2000 there was another field work conducted. The goal was to collect samples for phosphate and magnetic susceptibility mapping and data for creating a digital terrain model. The landscape around the Slöinge settlement is rather open. The central part of the site is located on a ridge. Two large buildings, halls, were located on the highest part of the ridge (see image:s above the top of the GPS). |
