Settlements in cultivated areas usually starts with removing the ploughed soil. In the slopes there are almost always layers formed by colluvial deposits and cultural layers.

Typical for the Bronze Age features are their content of fire cracked stones, probably used for food preparation.

The soil in Skrea consisted of very find sand which tended to move around as soon as it became dry. Therefore was shovelling part of the daily work.

One typical artefact of the Pre-Roman Iron Age are a kind of clay bricks (Sw. lerblock), baked in low temperature.They are usually ornamented, like the one on the picture.
