The sleeping compartment on the train through Germany
The photo is taken with my back pressed against one of the 2 windows, with 1 door to the left, 1 sofa in the lower right corner, and 2 cupboards, 1 drawer and 1 table in the middle.
My mother and I made several attempts before we managed to fit our luggage as well as ourselves into the compartment that most of all looked like a third class cabin in 'Starship Titanic'.
When I discovered the surprises behind those little doors I giggled so hard I bent over double (not sure if that made it easier or harder to fit into the minimal compartment) and my mother, who has never played the computer game, couldn't understand what I found so amusing! :-D
But there, neatly hidden away, was everything we needed; 1 more table, 1 wash basin, 1 bathroom cupboard hidden behind a mirror (containing towels, flace cloths and sealed mugs with water for brushing your teeth), and 2 beds. We had to fold away one of the tables though every time one of us wanted to get out of the compartment through the foldable door!
What I found most impressive was the trick the young conductress performed next morning when I asked for help with the beds - she politely asked us to step out and closed the door, rummaged around, and stepped out. Much to our surprise she had turned two beds on top of each other into a comfortable sofa that looked nothing at all like a former bed, about half the length of the beds, and where the other end of the beds had been there was now a (seemingly) solid wall!
