The Home Page of Kortebin Napoleon

Welcome to my homepage !

Although being given the name Kortebin Napoleon in the pedigree, I am daily called Pompe by my nearest and dearest. Pompe is a dog name with historical traditions in Sweden. It was the name of the dog of Karl XII, the young warior king of Sweden between 1697 - 1718. I am very proud of my name.

I was born in England on March 17, 1994 in a kennel called Kortebin Basset, run by Trish & Colin Wells, well known breeders of Basset Hounds in England. When I was around 22 weeks old I was bought by my family and brought to their home country Sweden, where we live in a city called Malmoe, situated in the south of the country just opposite the Danish capital Copenhagen.

My family consists of master Peter, mistress Marie-Louise and the small children Oskar and Ebba, 11 and 9 years old, respectively. An older daughter Jenny has left home for fashion design studies in London.

The picture above is taken in the fjeld region of the Dalecarlia province on the familys´yearly winter vacation. I love the snow although my short legs give me certain problems.

I really have become a full worthy member of the family. One of my most important tasks is to act as Father Christmas on Christmas evening. In Sweden it is a tradition that Father Christmas comes visiting the children to hand over Christmas gifts on Christmas evenings. As the real Father Christmas can not be on all places at the same time you normally have a family friend disguised as Father Christmas visiting the children. In our family I have got the honour to do this. Click here for a look at me in this role. I am however beginning to suspect that the children have discovered who is behind the disguise, but I am not sure !
