[Women] My Wheel of Time Tidbits

This is a collection of short theories of mine that I quite often allude to, but aren't really big enough to warrant their own pages.

Perrin can detect female channelers

In LoC, we learned that the wolves can readily distinguish female channelers from other people, and they were surprised that Perrin couldn't do so. From LoC, The Sending:

Wolves did not like fire, and they were even more wary of Aes Sedai than of other humans; they thought it amazing that that he [Perrin] could not tell an Aes Sedai. They took the ability as much for granted as he took being able to pick out a white horse among a herd of black, certainly nothing to mention and certainly nothing to explain clearly.

But in ACoS, Hill of the Golden Dawn the following passage appears:

A figure had appeared, running out from the trees a mile or more away, a woman with skirts hiked to her thighs. To Perrin's eyes she was clearly Aiel. A Wise One, he thought, though there was no real way to tell at sight. He was just certain.

Given this, it seems quite clear that Perrin does indeed have the same ability as the wolves to recognise at least female channelers on sight. If this ability extends itself to male channelers is another question, but I do think it's the case.

Myrddraal are "channeling" Trollocs

No real evidence for this, but it's a neat theory. Myrddraal are those Trollocs who, if they were human, would either have the spark or the capability to learn to channel. My guess is the former, ie the spark, given the Myrddraal-Trolloc ratio, but there is little other evidence.

This would neatly explain why Myrddraal sense female channeling and in the same way as male channelers (they itch), and gives a basic explanation for their development and powers.

Alanna will die

This is more a hunch than a theory, really. We have a vision of Min's on Rand of a beggar's cloak in TEotW, Strangers and Friends, and Egwene had a dream of Rand wearing rags and with a bandage covering his eyes in TSR, The Price of a Departure. Perhaps most compelling, we have the trailer prophecy of ACoS: Who thinks he turns the Wheel of Time, may learn the truth too late.

So, something really bad will happen to Rand. Couple this with the strong reaction in Warders when their Aes Sedai die, and that Alanna doesn't seem to fill any particular role in the books, and haven't so far either.

Alanna is killed or dies in some other way, causing Rand to go totally over the edge.

ObBela

Bela is a perfectly normal horse.

No Jordan theory page is compleat without a Bela theory!
