The Death of Asmodean -- The Path of Daggers

In TPoD we got some new information which throws new light on the case of Asmodean's murder. Specifically, we get a Graendal PoV and a new character - Cyndane - is introduced.

The Graendal PoV

The PoV from Graendal in [TpoD, New Alliances] is not that interesting from the point of Asmodean's death: Asmodean isn't mentioned at all, and neither are we given any news about that the DO allegedly promised her Nae'blis-hood.

The most important news is that my observation from LoC that Graendal didn't meet Shaidar Haran on her earlier visit to Shayol Ghul where the DO "all but promised to name her Nae'blis" proved to be correct. Graendal hadn't met Shaidar Haran until he showed up on the tails of Moghedien and Cyndane.

Cyndane

A new character with the name of Cyndane (Old Tongue for "last chance" appeared in the same chapter. She

• is stronger than Graendal in the OP. This also means that Cyndane channels saidar.
• wears Moridin's livery

From her behaviour she's quite clearly a recycled Forsaken, and the only ones available are Asmodean and Lanfear. Since Asmodean channels saidin it's not him, and Cyndane's behaviour doesn't fit Asmodean either. Thus, Cyndane is Lanfear, which means that it's virtually a certainity that either Moiraine or the A/Eelfinn killed her in TFoH.

Ergo, Lanfear didn't kill Asmodean.
