Inspiration: Minette

Minette makes me want to crochet. I love the Branches boa and the Floral Bouquet scarf. (Link via Not Martha)

Making magic for magknits

Some weeks ago, I presented an idea to Magknits, and it was accepted! So now I'm working on the pattern and a prototype. My sister got me some lovely yarn from Strikk in Sweden, and I hope I have enough to finish the thing. The terms of my contract (...) forbid me from going into details, but in my opinion it is a clever piece of work with some unusual solutions, and above all, it's a fun knit.

You will certainly be kept informed.

It's a man's world - for once

The summer issue of knitty.com is up and this time, it's all about the boys.

At a first glance, I like:
The Tychus hat
Baby Cargo pants
Drunken Argyle vest
Ripley (extraspicy!)
and the intarsia on the Kumo kimono

Magknits will be a monthly knitting magazine from August. Take a look at the lovely Baccarat Player top. I like the draped front. It's just a pity that Magknits hasn't taken Knitty's cue on always including schematics, I would like to see how the front is constructed.

Magknits needs some bag patterns for the October issue. I have an idea, but when will I find the time to experiment?

My boys are going to Sweden on Monday, to stay with their baby cousin. In a flash of inspiration I started on a jacket for Oscar last night. The key to the (possible) success: Phildar's Coton 8 paired with sock yarn and 10 mm telephone poles. I'm knitting the body in one piece. In my next-to worst case scenario, it will be a vest. In the worst scenario, my wrists will kill me. Twirling telephone poles around is more of a manly job, isn't it?

The end is close at hand

I got Interweave Knits autumn (fall) issue a few days ago, confirming the widespread sentiment that after all initial delivery problems, IK arrives on time or slightly earlier. Strangely enough (or not so strangely enough if you have seen the piles of magazines in our house) I have misplaced it somewhere, so I can't give my opinion except to say that, at a quick glance, there are some relly nice things there.

However, I still have some problems with the way they treat their subscribers. This is the second issue I receive, and it is hidden in a white paper cover, saying that the next issue will be my last. It will not. I have paid for four issues, and I expect to get four issues. I'm funny that way...

I have almost finished a small striped baby dress in Koolaid-dyed merino wool As soon as all the yarn ends are fastened and a cute edge is crocheted and the lace has been blocked into obedience, I will snap some pictures before sending it off.

My Swedish blog, Life de Luxe, was chosen "Summerblog of the day" in Swedens's largest newspaper a few days ago. The article is here, for those who read Swedish.
