Onde

A plate of OndéThe Phildar Ondé yarn changes from a fresh green to pure white in a continuous fade. (Look at the center of the ball!) It's very well done, except for the last change. The change from the palest green to white leaves a visible line.
More OndéThe yarn is an acryl/cotton mixture, and I'm not 100% convinced that this will be a good pull for hot days. A bit too plastic for my taste. But the knitted fabric looks good and is nice to touch.

the back of the Ondé pullThe back is finished, and the front. I'm halfway through the first sleeve. I just took some summer clothes down from the attic, and I think the Ondé chlorophyll will go well with a lime-and-rose coloured skirt I bought last year.

Another finished Ondé one

An Onde tank chez Jenny. My chlorophyll green "Le pull" is slowly coming along, I just have a few centimeters to go on the front, then begins the tedious part: sleeeeeves. I justed noticed that the free pattern has been pulled of Phildar's site.

Koigu!

I have received a lovely skein of Koigu from the even lovelier Louise in Montpellier. Now I need to find a use for it, I hope to find some merinowool of similar weight and spinning to knit something special. (Any ideas?)

(I just noticed that Louise is cleaning out her stash, take a look, she has a lot of sumptous wool, French cross stitch kits (lovely samplers!) and all kinds of patterns.)

Weird

I don't know why the text behaves so weirdly close to pictures. I think I need to review the stylesheets.

Colinette!

A few years ago I ordered a surprise pack from Colinette, 1 kg green and 1 kg pastel/white shades. A discussion on the Swedish mailing list "Sticklistan" made me look for the photos I had taken. It's beautiful, isn't it?

Närbilder

In the discussion I was asked what I have done with the yarn. I realized that most of it is still in my yarn box, so I picked out the three skeins of "point five" that were in the green pack. I started on a bag on the road to a trade fair in Düsseldorf, for once I wasn't driving so I could knit in the car. It's finished now, but I haven't decided if I will leave it as it is or felt it. I'm afraid that the bag will loose some of the colours and the sheen if I felt it. I will try with a small sample before I decide. Colinette proposes 15 mm needles for this yarn. I used 8 mm for the bag to get a thick cloth. I love the colours, but not the structure.

Comments, revisited

The comments in themselves seem to work, but they are displayed in a "per-post-page" which seems to have lost all formatting from the original page. I need to look into that. A worse problem is that there seems to be no way of leaving contact info. So Louise, please send me an e-mail! How far from Luxemburg are you?

I'm turning off the Haloscan comments, and trying out the Blogger comments. So please, say something!

Koigu?

American knitters keep talking about Koigu and Noro Kuryon. I have seen Noro for sale in Europe, but is it possible to get Koigu on this side of the Atlantic?

Onde knitalong

One finished Onde cardi

Desha is doing the same jumper as I am, in the same colour: chlorophylle. But she takes pictures...

My own progress? Just a few rows this weekend, I have been toying with a lovely scarf (2,5 mm needles, patentknit and a number of beautiful shades of fortisimma), and some interesting swatches in different techniques. And I've changed curtains in the living room!

Phildar Belgium: 20 % off

I just received an email saying that Phildar Belgium offers a 20% reduction on all orders over 50 euros, from now until Friday 14/5. Take a look at their site: www.phildar.be or order by e-mail: nicole-liefooghe@yucom.be

I have no affiliations...

A nice bag?

A Monk's Travel Satchel, free pattern from Interweave. Could a knitted bag without lining keep it's shape if not felted?

Sunday swatch

I did a 20x20 swatch (if I make some more I might send them off to the Afghans for afhans project chez Mason & Dixon), and with 5 mm needles I had 18 stitches and 25 rows. Now I need to find a nice cardigan pattern, I think it will be with a zipper this time.

Sunday

Yes, they still had some Sunday in stock. I've got 12 balls of Sunday, and half an afternoon of Friday to go...

Note from the editor

Some people think it is a Very Bad Thing to edit your posts after they've been published. I confess that I'm guilty of this crime: after the move to Passagen I have updated a few broken image links and cleaned up a bit.

Yesterday I cast on a swatch in the Lana Grossa Sunday I mentioned earlier. The yarn is soft and nice, but it might be too cute for me. (It's cream with little blobs of pink, light blue and lilac) A sweater would be nice though... I will pass by the shop in my lunch break to see if anything is left (50 g balls for 55 cents, a true bargain!)

Up and running

Life de Luxe - knitting moved in with her big sister for a while. Some tweaks left to deal with, but the basic structure is there.

Knit ring

So, I'm joining my first webring ever. There is a first for everything... Welcome if you come here from there!

Note for later

If my sisters baby turns out to be a girl, this is high on my knitting list. 8 balls of Phildar Licorne 3, 6 balls of Plaisance. EUR 36.80 (if I order from Phildar Wervik), plus instructions (from the Phildar catalogue no 405 Tricoter calin printemps 2004, which is filled with adorable little things, well worth checking out).

Entrelac?

Status Ondé: Ribbing + 3 cm on front

Someone mentioned entrelac as the next trendy thing in knitting, and since I had no idea what they were talking about, I googled and found a lot of beautiful examples. This hat is not the nicest I've seen, but it is small and the pattern is free, so it should be OK as a lesson. If I like the technique it might be something to rework for the baby hats I plan for this summer. I just read the pattern, and it's complicated! I don't know if the pattern-writer makes it sound worse than it is, I certainly hope so. More on this later.

My fight for images is discontinued for the moment. Blogspot doesn't seem to let me post (or even link to?) images unless I pay their monthly fee. I have another solution in the works (ha-ha, it's been in there for A Very Long Time), once it is up and running, this problem will be solved.

Edited 7 May: after the move to Passagen, everything works. Enjoy!
