Races on Harshlands
Knowing more about the race you are playing on Harshlands will make it easier to portray the character believably, enhancing the experience for your fellow player while having more fun yourself. It can also work as an aid in character creation, especially in the background and psyche departments, where the choice of race can lead to quite a different type of character and world view.
Currently there are four human cultures/ethnic groups to choose from, Harnic, Ivinian, Jarin, and Kath. Additionally there are Sindar (elves) and Khuzan, but they are only for special applications granted to players that the administrators have found to be good role-players, much like special responsibility roles such as guildsmen, nobles, or priests.

Jarin
First humans on Harn, essentially peaceful, clannish, and oppressed in Orbaal.

|
The first human ethnical group to find their way to Harn, the Jarin tend to beslightly shorter than the Harnic, and have darker hair and eyes.
Jarin culture is clan based, and largely decentralised and unorganised. The Jarin are xenophobic, individualistic and creative, and although brave, this individuality has prevented them from being effective at war. While the Jarin are usually a peaceful people, they can be fierce warriors when led by an effective leader.
Most Jarin are under the yoke of the Ivinian conquerors in Orbaal (Jara) and hate them passionately.
