"And was there ever a drummer who combined power and subltety the way Gene Calderazzo does?  It's worth listening to "Another Seventeen" just for the drumming alone - he anticipates everything, he shapes the events, he stimulates and guides the soloists, he is there in every sense of the word."
-Steve Gray, composer and arranger 2002

"Gene Calderazzo has the ability to generate rhythm by playing anything that is within his reach."
-David Lands, Jazz Journal International 2000

"Add drummer Gene Calderazzo and the music swings like mad. Calderazzo's time and energy creates an excitement similar to that of a young Tony Williams, drummer with forward gears."
- Stan Sulzman, Musician Magazine, September 2001

"At Ronnie Scott's this week is the superb trio led by pianist (and sometime drummer) Gary Husband, with some scalding drumming from Gene Calderazzo and the powerful, sinewy counter-melody of bassist Mick Hutton. Husband's broad grasp of contemporary jazz  in the spacy electronics of 80s Miles Davis, and driving up-tempo acoustic post bop that puts you on the edge of your seat, if you can find one."
-John Fordham, Guardian Unlimited, 11/8/00
