Dj Tatana Interview Septmber Edition 2002
Since Tatana Sterba mixed the "live at street parade" CD in 1998, she has been the Queen on the Swiss Trance scene. When the 25-year-old Czech by birth stands behind the turntables at raves such as "Energy", "Evolution" and "Motion", she gets the audience going like no one else. Her loyal fans with their handmade Tatana banners stand in the first row. Tatana is also a part of the Swiss Trance League as the producer of hits such as "Dream off" and "End of time" ( with Dj Energy ). She has also produced her own record in the Frankfurt-Polaris studio together with German star producer Torsten Stenzel ( Ayla, Taucher, Dj Sakin&Friends, York ), which appeared on Liquid records and was simoultaneous licensed on over 20 samplers and mix compilations worldwide. Her new track Words is since more than 20 weeks in the swiss-sales charts and already licensed to different countries worldwide. In Sweden Words is going to be released with Warner music Sweden. We got the chance to talk to this interesting girl that is conisdered to be the most frequently booked Dj in Switzerland.

1 If you didnt become a Dj, what do you reckon would be your profession today?
Since I started work, I worked in a bank. Cus of my Djing and Producing a stoppt my bank work, I loved my bank job... Still in the bank.

2 What are your plans for the future? Any new tracks on its way?
Yes, we are still releasing Words in different countries, for Switzerland and Germany I started to produce my new single. For the DJs there will be in Septemebr 4 Track Ep. Called Superpop E.P. with 4 very lovely trance tracks. My new Mix Album will be released in February.

3 How would a typical week of Dj Tatanas life look like?
(press, promotion, producing, gigs) Monday releax Tuesday releax, shopping, office (own label sirup), Studio Wednesday sometimes Inetrviews, record shopping, Studio Thursday record my radio show on radio 105 (105.ch), records shopping, Office Friday Releax, shopping, Records, Spinning at night (once to twice) Saturday, sleeping, Spinning at night (twice), soemtimes siging hours at day. Sunday releaxing or spining at night once (but only once a month).

Tiesto, Timo Maas, Ferry Corsten ....

7 What do you think of the fact that males are dominating the dance music scene?
I think that in every country a female dj has success, also the males accept now the females, important is that the females do a great job.

8 What tips can you give a girl that wants to become a dj and learn how to spin?
The best Tip is to believe in all that what you do, and to work till you reach the goal. Never give up!

9 Whats the best part of your job as a Dj/producer ?
I like a little everything spinning at night and feel that positive vibes, also producing in the studio with people and be creative, go to the radio station and record my weekly radio show..... Also girl a like also shopping and not only 12.... 10 Can you walk the streets of ie. Zurich without getting recognized? In Zurich and i think also in all switzerland not... Over hear Im very known because of all my compilation and mix-cd, also my last single Words was for mor than 10 weeks in the swiss top 10, I also had the look to visit nearly all tv, radio stations.
