| SYDNEY is the biggest city in Australia with about 3,5 million inhabitants, and the oldest city. Sydney is also the state capital in New South Wales. The city area is bigger than both London and New York. There are also a lot of great beaches in the city, and it's fairly easy to find your way around Sydney. Sydney Tower (picture), is over 300 metres high. If you take lift up to the observation deck, you have the most beautiful view. A tip is to go there at night, when it's not as much people, and the view is even more remarcable. |

SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE is actually designed by two different
architects. One of them did the outside and the other one
did the inside. That is why some people think it doesn't
really fit toghether. Well, it doesn't matter, because
it's a remarkable sight to see the opera house in Sydney.
If you've never seen an opera , it's a godd time to do it
in Sydney. The tickets are quite expensive, but if you're
there about an half an hour before the opera begins , you
get the leftover tickets for at least a
fifth of the price. |

The best time to watch the opera house is at nigh, when it's dark outside and lamps in different shades lights up the front. Because the opera house is located right by the water, all the lights are reflected by the water and it looks even more beautiful. | |

HARBOUR BRIDGE is exciting in many
ways. When they had first built the bridge, the people
thought it looked unsteady. Then they descided to build 4
big columns, 2 by each abutments. Perhaps that looked
better and more steady, but to tell the truth, they might
as well could have done without them, 'cause they don't
do any good at all. If you still wants to dare the unsteady bridge, you can sign up for a climb up the bridge. That will cost you some, and you don't get to take your camera with you. But I'm sure it's quite a thrill. Exept for the ban on cameras, you also have to get into a grey overall, just to make sure you don't disturb the traffic, and to prevent traffic accidents. |
| CANBERRAis the capital of Australia. Many people makes the misstake that they think Sydney is the capital, but that's wrong. But it's easy to make that misstake, because Sydney is so much bigger than Canberra. In Canberra the population is around 300 000 habitants, and was built new when Australia claimed there independecy. | bild |
| bild | BLUE MOUNTINS is a big national park just some 70 km outside Sydney. The name of the park comes from the blue color the mountains have some days. In the park there are some great walking tracks, a cableway and the worlds steepest railway! In the park the "Three Sisters" stands on a big rock. They are three giant rocks, and the legend says they were the daughters of an medicinman, and with his wand turned his daughters into rocks when he saw that a dangerous animal was on his way to eat them. But, to make a long story short, the medicinman lost his wand and the sisters remained stones for ever. |
