Ronaldo was born in Rio de Janerio, Brazil. his full name is Ronaldo Luiz Nazario DALIma. Ronaldo grew up up in Bento Ribeiro, a suburb of Rio. He was obsessed with football from very young age. During his childhood he wanted to be a soldier or play bass drum. He did not have much interest in school.
The first football match ronaldo played was indoors. His coach, Fernando Dos Santos, found him as a potential star and took him to play 11-a-side football for Socila Clube de Rasmos. Ronaldo scored 166 goals for Ramos. Then he changed club to Sao Cristovao, who played in Rio second division, and he was only 13 years old but he managed to score three goals. Then Ronaldo was offered a trial by Flamengo but he didn't get noticed at all. He didn't have enough money to get the bus there on a regulara basis so he gave up after one session. Ronaldo remain stayed at Sao Cristovao but his performance was so well that he earned a call-up to Brazil's under 17 side for the South American championships in Colombia in feb 1993. Ronaldo became the leading scorer with 8 goals, and that made Ronaldo being asked to join the first division club, Cruzeiro, in march 1993 for £30000. Ronaldo had great succes with Cruzerio, and thanks to his fantastic performance, Ronaldo got a call-up to the full Brazil national squad. He made his first debut as a sub against Argentina, he didin't get to play much but he still attracted a lot of attention. He signed hsi first sponsorship deal with nike and, agreed to transfer tp PSV Eindhoven of Holland for 4 million pound. With the total 55 goals in 56 games in PSV, Ronaldo was becoming the target of some famous football club in Europa.When Ronaldo was in Atalanta Olympics , PSV was negotiating with both Barcelona and Inter Milan. Finally, Barcelona won the Brazilian with the argeement of £12.8m. the manager of Barcelona, Bobby Robson, also the former manager of PSV.knowing that he had got a genius, who had set a record fee for Brazilian. With the impressive performance of Ronaldo in Barcelona, it was not surprised that he was elected as the Fifa world footballer of 1996.Every one should hear about that Inter Milan was negotiating with Barcelona during the Copa America. The final decision was made with a £27m argeement. With £20m to Barcelona, and £7m to Ronaldo and his agents. That made Ronaldo the most expensive footballer in the world.Ronaldo has not gone down in Italy as many people predicted. He had scored 25 goals in 30 matches. With just 2 goals more he would then become the topscorer of the Italian league. 1998 is a wonderful year for Ronaldo. He had got the Golden Boot award, Best player of Europa, and the Fifa best footballer in the world for 2 consecutive years. Beside titles in career, Ronaldo also win a wonderful prise in 1998. But lately Ronaldo has been recovering from his knee injury, and he haven't played football at professional level for over a year now. But Ronaldo himself is sure that he will soon make a comeback, but the the big question that I wonder is if he will ever be able to comeback to his old glory days.
