The area of Hultsjö Södra fishing is about 300 hectare (3 square kilometers) of fishing waters.  The area consists of the lakes Övingen, Furusjön,Trittebodagölarna, Myingen, Målasjön, Lövsjön, östra och västra Svälterstorpsgölarna samt Gränö göl.

 

 

Fish species

Pike, perch, roach, bream, whitefish, eel and burbot.  Övingen also have crayfish.

 

 

Fishing licence

You need a fishing licence if you want to do sport fishing in the area.  The licence does not apply to fishing crayfish

Free fishing for youths up to  15 years old.

 

You can also obtain a fishing licence valid for all fishing waters in Sävsjö municipality.  It can be purchased in the Tourist information in Sävsjö and Vrigstad.  Price:  150 kr. per week.

Övingen

 

The lake Övingen in the Småland highlands in Sävsjö municipality has an area of 240 hectare, of which about 20% lies in Kronobergs county.  Övingen is well known for it’s clear and fresh water and is one of the better waters in southern Sweden.  The lake is quite deep, 30-35 meters, and is a water source for the Lagan water system.    (Depth-map Övingen)

 

Övingen is a part of EU Natura 2000.

 

I Övingen contains three islands:

v     Hållgärdsö (34 ha)

v     Lillö (1 ha)

v     Stöllö

 

Hållgärds island contains a small farm and has a 60 meter bridge connecting it to the mainland.   The legend says that the island got it’s name from a dutch prince (prince Hållgärd) who went into exile in the 17th century and settled on the island.

 

Övingen has a ban against outboard motors above 4 hp, mainly to protect the lake’bird life.

 

Free fishing for youths up to 15 years old.

Bathing is possibleon several locations around the lake.
