Marc AlmondSunday 13th of August
YES!! Me, Lirazel, have always been slightly fascinated by Marc Almond, and was crazy about "Something's gotten hold of my heart" and "A Lover Spurned", as well as some Solf Cell songs, of course, ("Say Hello and Wave Goodbye" and "Tainted Love") 10 years ago or so (dear me, I am getting old!) and the thought of seeing the great man live was thrilling. Fhaevirr, on the other hand, had not really shared my youth's love for electronic pop and had only agreed to acompany me to the concert because it did not collide with any other concert (if you don't count "L'Ame Immortelle, and we don't). But in the end the Fhaevirr was the one most impressed with Marc Almond's concert. Marc Almond has got a great stage personality and he knows very well how to get the audience going. He ran back and forwards on stage and his enormous energy and happiness infected the crowd. I, Lirazel, though that his new material was rather dull, but I forgave him everything when he did play "A Lover Spurned". Not to forget the other goodies, "The Days of Earl Spencer", "Pearl" etc. In between songs he talked a lot, complaining jokingly of the sun and how he detested getting a sun tan etc. I, Lirazel, had planned to skip the last part of the concert in order to see the whole of Umbra et Imago's concert (however odd that may sound I actually did like their last record), but how could one leave when Marc Almond started playing all his greatest hits. He even did an extra number (they told him that he could do another 5 minutes when he got of stage, probably due to the crowds cheering). All in all, although we might not have loved all the songs, the way he got the crowd going at 16.55 in the afternoon was quite an achievment. God bless Marc Almond! E-Mail: lirazel@telia.com |
