Fields of the Nephilim

Finally we got to see them perform live. Until the very last minute we were both quite sure that they would cancel, as they had cancelled the Arvika Festival earlier the same summer. But to our great surprise they came, they saw and they conqerred. It was, along with the Faith and the Muse concert, the highlight of the festival.

Fields of the Nephilim

Unfortunately they did play in broad daylight, as you can see on these pictures, which maybe spoiled the feeling a little, but they made up for that by the sheer marvellous sound. They started off with "Preacherman" and continued in the same vein, playing "Moonchild", "For Her Light", "Dawnrazor", and other great old tunes. They did also fit in a couple of Nefilim tracks from the Zoon album. Those sounded great too. All through the concert we were eagerly awaiting to get to hear some new material but - to our great disappointment - that did not happen. They only played old material. Oh, and the new "Trees Come Down" - but that isn't really a new song. Furthermore, Carl McCoy did only say two words all through the concert - a short "thank you" before he left the stage. Nevertheless, we left the concert knowing that if we ever have another chance of ever seeing them live, we will pay dearly to do so.
