Svinbådan lightcaisson was built in Lysekil and towed to its
present location in 1959.
A new light was built on the former helicopter
platform at the top of the lightcaisson in 1994.
This new light is designed
to be driven by solarpower when the shorecable has worn out.
Svinbådan lightcaisson replaced Swedens fifth lightship station,
to warn navigators of the treacherous sand reefs, described in
Carl von Linnés Scania survey published in 1749.
