AGA acetylene och propane lantern type LBGA-200, fitted with AGA sunvalve on the side.
This series of gas lanterns was very common on buoys and smaller beacons. Designed to give up to one year
of unattended service in all types of weather conditions, the lanterns where made of
copper, gunmetal and brass. Lenses were cut and polished. Colored light is obtained by
mounting a colored glass cylinder inside the drum lens.
The sunvalve could reduce gasconsumption with 40 per cent.
They were made in sizes from 100 to 500 millimeter inner diameter of drum lens, and typed whith
letters according to features, and numbers to the size of lens.
In Sweden, there are still a lot of these lanterns in use, but they are all rebuildt whith
electric lamp installations.
Down below you can see the inner parts, with an original gas burner mounted.
