Some of the persons below were horrible murderers, some of them were important thinkers, some of them were convinced they were vampires. Some of them never harmed anyone. But they all have one thing in common - there are many myths circulating about each one of them. Some of them they gave rise to novels and movies. Some of them confused darkly romantic fiction and reality.

In fact, some of them has nothing or little to do with Dark Romanticism. Anyhow, it might be interesting to read about persons that actually existed - somewhere between fiction and reality. The interest in Jack the Ripper tells something about the Victorian society. The interest in Vlad Tepes tells something about human beings that tend to glorify, or at least mystify, ancient tyrants.
