Story 37

Hedgehog nest is of course very well hidden. Their most preferred locations for the nest are manure heaps and places under sheds. Hedgehogs will nest as well against fences, under hedges, in dense vegetation and pile of rubbish. If you are a gardener, please be very careful when working with your manure heap. It might be actually a home for a hedgehog. Be careful and make an inspection before turning it around. The mother hedgehog can be living there with just born hoglets. If she is disturbed, there is a risk that she will abandon the young. Just give them a bit of time, and in couple of weeks you might see the mother and young hoglets wandering around. They will contribute to decrease the amount of unwanted bugs and snails in your garden, so maybe it is worth to have a consideration to their needs.
