Is this enough of protection for the winter sleep? Well, I do not really think so.
Hedeghogs are building their hibernation nest carefully. They can even try to
bring some grass, leaves and such. I wonder how they are choosing the place really.
What is a criteria??
A veterinary I know, discovered a hedgehog nest on his yard in April. It is north of
Sweden, so do not think about green grass and flowers coming here at that time. Not yet.
There is lots of snow, and it can be rather cold....Vet was surprised how little protection
the hedgehog had. Just a bit of grass pushed under wooden planks....It was winter still,
so how to find some leafs to cover a hedgehog? Well, the vet managed to find some hey
and tried to covered a sleeping hedgehog. He was (the vet) a bit worried how this
creature will manage. But the spring came in May (finally) and the hedgehog woken up!!!
He was walking like a sailor after months of sailing.....
