If you decide to support hedgehogs before winter by feeding them, think seriously in what place you are going to do it. It can actually disturb your neighbours! If such a large amount of hedgehogs come to you as to our feeding place (more than 15) the problem of hedgehog droppings will occur. Besides that, they will always leave some food here and there and other animals will come to finish it up, like magpies.
Good place for feeding hedgehogs would be a back of your garden, places under bushes for instance, to give a hedgehog some protection. If you live in a dense and crawded living area feeding hedgehogs might be a bit of a problem.
Therefore think about:

• Waste and mess it will create (depending upon the number of hedgehogs coming of course)
  
  
• Necessity to clean their plates and not using them in your own kitchen later
  
  
• Placing out some fresh water as well
  
  
• Trying to arrange some hidden place for feeding, which only hedgehogs would have an access to, like a rabbit hutch with a tunnel, made from an old platic waste pipe, 12 cm in diameter
