Examples of some water plants in my pond

I chose only watater plants which are enough frost resistant.
Examples are growing all over in the lakes and streams in northern Sweden.

iris pseaudoac. Perennial

Height: 120 cm
Flowering: May/June
Planting place: edge of pond or pond border plant

Features: very expansive plant which can easily take over the place. Leafs are very decorative during a whole season. To limit its expansion in a small pond this iris can be planted in the basket.

nuphar luteum Perennial

Height: flower: 15 cm; leafs are floating on the surface
Flowering: June
Planting place: deeper parts of the pond

Features: very decorative, round leafs, which floats on the surface of the pond, providing protection for snails and insects

caltha palustris Perennial

Height: 20 cm
Flowering time: early May. Flowers often appear before the ice is completely thawed in the pond!
Planting place: edge of the pond in the water or as a border plant around the pond

Features: very intensiv yellow flowers which appear as one of the first in the garden and are enjoyable sight. Especially when flowers come through the ice...

nymphea alba Perennial

Height: flowers and leads floating on the surface of the pond
Flowering: June/July; flowers very long

Features: very beautiful flowers; most common color is white. Other species of Nymhea can also survive in the nordic garden. Size of my pond does not allow me testing more species of Nymphea at the moment. But other pond is planned, just for Nymphea!
Many hardy plants of Nymphea sp. can be found. Reliable information is needed that they can stand winter conditions of northern Sweden.
