    Spring bulbs described in a very nice way. Suitable for English climate.

  • The complete garden planning book - Peter McHoy. Hermes House 2001. ISBN: ?.

    None of the books about gardening can be realy a "complete". This is one is a collection of ideas about garden design for beginners and more advanced gardeners. Nice plans of different gardens are shown.

    Collection of photographs and nice and concise descriptions of herbs and their use in our life: in the kitchen, as medicines, as decorations. It is absolutely amazing how big use we can have of herbs and how little we know how to use them. This book will be a definite help.

  • Najpiekniejsze rosliny ogrodowe - Roger Philips and Martyn Rix. Swiat ksiazki 1999. ISBN: 83-7227-120-8.

    Overview of chosen most beautiful (for authors) garden plants. Good information on growing conditions and very nice pictures.

  • 12 miesiecy w ogrodzie - Johannes Höhne and Paul Gerhard Wilhelm. Diogenes 2000. ISBN: 83-7227-082-1.

    Authors move through whole vegetation season in the garden. Although much does not apply for a nordic garden this book can be useful as well. Suitable for more advanced gardeners which are patient with lots of information provided.
    Title of German original: Zwölf Montane im Garten.

    Amazing tips, taken from gardening in the past. Simple and nature friendly solutions how to get rid of unwanted insects, be a "plant doctor" or store the harvest. Title of German original: Was GroBvater noch wuBte (Sammelband mit den besten Tips).

    Pictures, pictures, pictures. Ideas for different types of gardens. Plenty of different styles. Inspiration.
    Title of English original: The essential garden book.

  • Lilie - Kazimierz Mynett. PWRL 1993. ISBN: 83-09-01560-7.

    Good overview on lilies, history of their cultivation. Colour pictures of many species together with short descriptions.

  • Irysy - Lech Komarnicki. PWRL 1993. ISBN: 83-09-01591-7.

    Good overview on different varieties of irises together with pictures and short descriptions.

  • Ogrod naturalny - Peter Harper et al. BIS 2000. ISBN: 83-88461-02-8.

    How to create a garden together with nature not against it. Do not weed. Do not cut the grass all the time. To give just few examples. Earth friendly approach.

    Charming book about using flowers, leafs and pellets as ingredient for everyday food. They add extra color, fragrance and make a whole dish like a piece of art! Many ideas.

  • Kompost boken - Gustaf Alm et. al. Natur och Kultur 1998. ISBN: 91-36-03379-0.

    Wonderful tips how to make and maintain compost. In different formats sizes and up to different needs. Very informative for both, beginner and more advanced compost user.

  • Handbok för Köksträdgården - Lena Israelsson. Wahlström and Widstrand 2000. ISBN: 91-46-17539-3.

    A "must" for one who wish to grow many different vegetables in the nordic climate. Good descriptions, informative review of wide vegetable species.

  • Din Trädgård - Karin Berglund. Albert Bonniers Förlag 1996.ISBN 91-0-056929-1.

    Good book for beginners. Describes a lot, but for more information special books on the subject have to be used. Describes varieties suitbale for nordic garden. Very nice pictures.

  • Perenner Lena Månsson and Bertil K Johanson. ICA Bokförlag 1994. ISBN: 91-534-1324-5.

    Wonderful book describing many perennial plants (in alphabetic order by latin names) suitable for nordic gardens. Info about flowering time, hardness and care is given. Very useful.

  • Lökar och knölar - Lena Månsson. ICA Bokförlag 2000. ISBN: 91-534-1748-8.

    Very practical book for one interested in spring bulbs which can be grown in Sweden, including the northern part as well.

  • Den naturliga trädgården - Wiert Nieuman et al. Könemann 2000. ISBN 3-8290-5506-4.

    Gives understanding how to create a garden in the balance with surrounding nature. Origin of many popular wilde plants which became cultivated in the gardens is shortly described together with characteristics of their growing conditions.

  • 40 ide-trädgårdar - Nils Skaarer. Natur och Kultur 1998. ISBN 91-27-34989-6.

    Fourty solutions to different gardens: garden without the grass lown, sound in the garden, ecological garden. Everything in a compact form with lists of plants suitable for different solutions. Nice to read and look through for inspiration.

    First of all wonderful pictures to look through during dark, winter evenings. Lots of useful tips.

    Bushes and tress. Descriptions and wonderful drawings. Subject treated in a "botanical" approach.
