Lars-Erik Mattson Biography

A guitarist of the classic metal/hardrock school Lars was first discovered by Mike Varney (Guitarplayer magazine and Shrapnel records) in 1985. After playing and touring with various local hardrock bands Lars recorded and released the 4 track EP "Canīt go on without your love" in 1987. Soon after this Lars signed to Black dragon records, a french indie label for which he recorded 3 albums - Eternity (1988), No surrender (1989), and the all instrumenatl Electric voodoo (1991). Eternity and No surrender were released in Japan by FEMS, while the instrumental Electric voodoo was picked up up by Levithian records in USA and released under the title "The exciter" in 1992, and then in 1995 it was released in Korea by SKC.
In 1992 Lars teamed up with swedish singer Conny Lind who had been in L.A. working with Alex Masi and together with drummer Tony Mattson and bassplayer Michael Ahlskog they formed the band Vision and recorded the 1992īs album Lars-erik Mattsonīs Vision which went down very well specially in Japan where it was once again released by FEMS and in Europe by Roadrunner. The year after Vision recorded a follow up album, which were never released due to contractual problems and then the band eventually split up. Around 1994 when Lars was found playing in cover bands doing blues classics and Hendrix covers Lars got in contact with another swedish singer Bjorn Lodin, who had made 4 albums with his own band Baltimore. As guitarist Nikolo Kotzev left Baltimore Bjorn joined forces with Lars and recorded 1995īs album Astral groove, which was blues based and quite different from Lars previous releases. More or less Astral groove came out of jamming ideas but the band split up very soon.
In 1996 Lars wanted to give Vision a second chance and recorded the Vision album "Till the end of time" which was his most laid back melodic AOR release ever. The album got very good rections and was a living proof that melodic hardrock still had an audience. Singer Randolph Reymers made his debut as a lead singer after having sung backing vocals on several albums before Vision.
As Vision is taking a break from recording Lars went into studio at the end of August 1997 with a bunch of new songs which definitely will show that hard work pays off. This new album is Lars finest hour with his best guitar playing ever as well as some of his better compositions. Add to that singer Bjorn Lodin who never sounded this good before.
The guitar lines are tight and superbly clean yet daring at moments and it is easy to tell that a lot of thought went into this music. For instance listen to the unexpected instrumenatl ending of "And the road goes on", the clean solos of " Just a Leo" and the great solo of "Messenger" and you will hear a master fully at home doing his own thing.

Gods Incorporated
(cover from their debut cd "Bullet from inside")
Gods Incorporated is a swedish heavy metal band and was founded about a year ago (early ī97).
The bandīs influences is dark and heavy music like Paradise lost and Sisters of mercy..., and of course our metal heroes Metallica.
A trademark for Gods Inc. is their excellent live-performances, well, you can judge for your self!
Gods Inc. write all their songs themself.
For the moment theyīre not signed to a label and their debut cd "Bullet from inside"
was self-financed and is sold so far by the group.
During early autumn ī98 they will once again enter the studio and record their second cd with expected release late autumn ī98.
OK, ok, their new epic album is out and you can read more about it below.
Now over to the biography:
The story begins in the northern parts of Sweden where Eddie, singer and songwriter lived. In the early 90īs he met bassplayer Mats Holm who had moved up to the northern parts to play his music. They discovered that they had similar taste in music. Names like Kiss, The Cult, Sisters of mercy were often played on their CD-players. They ended up playing in the same bands, always heading for the same goal. For several reasons the band split up with no really good recordings and in 1994 the very same Eddie and Mats joined up in Fagersta, a little town in the middle of Sweden (wellknown a few years ago for a very active metal-scene). Time were very hard for bands in Sweden who played their own material, as it is still today (for reasons unknown to mankind). Despite very good live performances and several demo-tapes the band didnīt really got it together and Mats & Eddie struggled to rally members when the old ones dropped off. Things really lightened up in 1997 when songwriter and lead-guitarist Per Gustavsson joined the band. He was the the man the other two had waited for, he also gave the band a darker influence that lifted up the music. In this golden moment the drummer, Niklas Lovgren also teamed up to play a really serious role as a heavy drummer.
There it was, Gods Incorporated came to light and in the late 1997 their first CD "Bullet from inside" was released. It was the first serious attempt to get some attention, and gave the band their new sound... heavier and darker.
Several radiostations played their music and there was some record-labels who shown interest, none of them led to a contract though.
Gods Incorporated has also played live rather much by now in clubs, pubs and other places as well. Theyīre known for great performances with so much power and energy, a real Heavy metal act! This has inspired the band to play even more if possible so if you want some real metal, this is the obvious choise!
Meanwhile the group continues to write and produce new Heavy Metal songs, ten new ones are included on their new CD. During spring 1998 they came in contact with Peace of Mind Records from Sundsvall, a mailorder business whoīs selling Heavy Metal and Progressive rock on Internet. He liked the the stuff (liked isnīt the right word, Iīm astonished, and was from the start. After I got the second CD I almost went over the top, what a CD!!!) and ended up being a sort of helping hand for the boys. His enthusiasm opened up some doors to the international playground and it is there the band can find their home (I agree of course!). Now itīs late 1998 and Gods Incorporated has released their second CD "This heavenīs hell".
The struggle continues...

Mathias Holm

(cover from this debut cd "Pictures of a dream")
Sweden is quite well-known for itīs many high quality-guitarists. Prepare yourself to add yet another high quality-bender to that list - MATHIAS HOLM.
Just donīt expect a full-time shredder
that knows nothing about feeling and subtlety. Mathias has been brought up listening to
players like Al Di Meola, Vinnie Moore and Mike Oldfield, giving him quite a broad
perspective of influences.
He picked up the six-string at the age of 13 and has with great self-determination and
ambition though himself to handle the guitar with great skill.
In 1995 Mathias decided to put
his songs on record and knowing how hard it is for an unknown solo-guitarist to get a
deal, he decided to record the album on his own.
With the aid of drummer Mats Eriksson-Wigg he
created the outstanding platter "Pictures of a dream" (he even made the cover
himself).
Mathias has been compared to the likes
of Vinnie Moore, Yngwie Malmsteen and Al Di Meola and when listening to Mathias album, you
canīt but see why.
This is also why Japanese label Shinseido/Sound Treasures picked Mathias album as
one of their first foreign releases.
Mathias mixes smooth, sensitive notes with fast fret-board runners in a highly intriguing mix. This and the fact that he has the ability write great listenable music makes him a respectable musician.
If someone gives this guy the break he deserves, he can go far, very far!
Janne Stark
Author of "The Encyclopedia Of Swedish Hard Rock And Heavy Metal"
Besides Mathias Holm who plays guitar, bass, keyboards and some drum programming the following guys plays on the cd: Mats Eriksson-Wigg - drums on 2, 3, 6, 7, 10, 11 and Thomas Backman - bass on 2, 3, 9, 10, 11.
His astounding debut-cd got the following sixteen tracks:
Voyage, Golden snow, Call it alive, Sea of mirrors, Jammu, The tables of testimony, Tickle of a mosquito, Change of pace, Pictures of a dream, High trees, Warm sand, Irresistible grass, Acustic mind, Hepatica, When Iīm with you, Day of silence.

A review found on internet ( more reviews can be found on Mathias webpage).
Mathias is a Swedish player with a strong neo classical influence (especially from the first two Vinnie Moore albums). His first CD, Pictures of a Dream is a self produced disc that is an impressive 72 minutes long. He expands on the potentially narrow neo classical sounds with good use of acoustic guitars and some lighter more upbeat melodies. The openers "Voyage" and "Golden Snow" are squarely in the neo classical style while the following song, "Call It Alive" is almost as upbeat as a Satriani song. These songs reflect the musical balance of the CD. One of the best is "Change of Pace", where he uses off beat rhythms to good effect and slows down the soloing. Another highlight is "Day of Silence" which begins with a Di Meola-style latin acoustic riff and develops into a fast rocker with progressive metal touches and manages to find its way back into fusion. The mellow groove of "Pictures of a Dream" and "When I'm With You" work as a good contrast to the heavier songs. The only weakness is that some of the neo classical pieces follow the mold too closely but the overall variety of the CD more than makes up for it.
