MineSweeper64

History!

Oh no I hear you cry. Not another of these puzzle games. I have a trillion of these allready.
Well, I hope this isn't just one of these games. I'm an addict of the classic minesweeper found in Micro$oft Windows. I'm also a C64 addict, so... Here we are!
MineSweeper is also the very first program I have coded using only PC-based software. My good friend Bacchus of FairLight (tools-section) visited me a few days this summer. He installed a few of his best C64-tools on my PC. And to evaluate these tools I had to code something... And it all ended up with this little cute game.

Tools used...

The following tools have been used:
  • Ultraedit 4.40a.
  • Turbo Assembler for PC by Taboo Productions. Registered version.
  • CCS 2.0 beta by Per Håkan Sundell. Running with a Action Replay MK6.
  • Starcommander 0.81 by Joe Forster/STA.

How to play...

I assume that you know the basics of MineSweeper. And if you don't there is a built in help-menu (see the picture above!). What differs from the original game is that I use the keyboard as input-device instead of a mouse. If I get the right motivation a mousedriver will be included - sometime.

Use the following keys while playing the game.

  • G - for GameMenu
  • H - for HelpMenu
  • Cursor keys to move around the playfield.
  • 1 - to uncover a playfield.
  • 2 - to set a warning-flag.
  • 3 - to set a questionmark.
  • 4 - to remove a warning-flag and questionmark.

Where is the game??

A preview with limited playtime is available for download at the download page. The full version which also includes a highscore saver will be available to subscribers of the 64'er magazine later this autumn.
