Welcome to join on a Viking adventure with "the long ship" Sigrid Storråda. To sail and row a real Vikingship is something really out of the ordinary. One have a feeling of being transferred 1000 years back in time and get an impression of the rough and venturesome life of the Vikings.
These big beatiful and technically accomplished ships has in all times fascinated the world. The shipbuilding skill of the Vikings was a determining factor for their success as explorers, tradesmen and pirates. They saw America 500 years before Columbus. The voyages went all the way to Afghanistan, Northern Africa and the Arctic sea. They founded Russia, served the emperor of Istanbul, founded Dublin and captured Paris.
It took us two years to build our proud ship with "the Gokstaship" from the thousands century as a prototype. Sigrids maiden year 1995 arouse a tremendous attention on her easterly and westerly voyages. We received two culture prizes and introduced a new idea on the Vikings sailing technology.
Now you have the opportunity to experience an unique cultural and historical adventure and we will tell you everything we know about the time of the Vikings.
We have regular tours, and offer companies and other groups tailored arrangments.
