The original kickpanels

New location under the fusepanel

"Elephant"-tape was used to create a flowing form between
side-wall and the floor

A plastic garbage bag vas used to protect the car during
the moulding of the plastic. Spray glue was used to fix the
glassfibre to the vertical surface.

The baffle was created out of high density Divinycell, which
is a plastic material used when building airplanes and high-speed
trains. This grade is about 3 times stronger then a MDF-board
of the same dimensions, at a quarter of the wheight!

The baffle was then mounted in the car with adjustable
brackets to allow for precise aiming. Once dialed in they
where fixated with hot melt glue and removed.

Low density divinycell was used to create the remaining
sides. This material is extreamly lightwheight but not as
strong as the HD grade. This is used with a single compound
ahesive to create a sandwichmaterial with high internal damping.

After milling and A LOT of bondo and hand-sanding the
new panels are taking shape. The holes around the edge
is for the steel inserts, which has a wide thread on the
outside and M4 threads on the inside.

In the upper rear corner, a small grille is applied. This will
be the bottom of the aperiodic membrane, which vents the
box into the front (A-) pillar.

To ensure that the box is sealed where it should be, and
give some finish to the rear side, the whole thing was
sprey-painted black.

The vinyl carpeted box is stuffed with damping-wool
and the speaker itself rests on a gasket of silicon rubber
As the tweeter the eightinch midrange is connected with
gold plated connetors that is soldered to the Supra cables
and protected with transparent heat shrink wrapping.

The speaker is screwed to the box with M4 stainless steel
insex screws. The box is attached to the car using the stock
screw fixations for the ABS-box

To protect the speaker a steel grille was fitted.

The finished panels matches IMO the car well and is just
about 2 cm thicker then the stock ones. (Image taken
with flash, the colors match well in normal light).
