This "book" (51 small pages) is part of the Penguin 60p-series. The story appears in Will Self's collection "Grey Area" as well. I can't help to think of Monty Python's song "Traffic Lights" to which the lyrics goes "I love traffic lights, I love traffic lights, I love traffic lights, but not when they are red." on and on with slight variations. Motorways play a big part in the philosophical thoughts of the drug-addicted author that is described in this story. I had some trouble with reading it since it contains many, at least to me, unusual words. I liked the language and will be reading something else by Will Self to get a proper opinion of his writings ("Junk Mail" is located on my bookshelf, but I will probably dig into some novel of his instead). Get the book to have something to read on the bus on your way home, or better: get the short story collection "Grey Area" and mail me your thoughts about that one.
