Perspective Shadow

This technique can be used for various objects. We are using it for text in this tutorial.

Start with a new image, Size 400x200, Background Color: Black, 16 Million Colors.

Step 1:
Select White as foreground and Black as background color.

Step 2:
Click on the Text tool and then on the image. I used: Font Name = Century Gothic, Style = Bold, Size = 60. Be sure to tick Antialias and Floating. Type the text and click OK.

Step 3:
Move the text to the center of the image and keep it selected.
Click on the Flood Fill button in the tool bar.
Select: Match Mode = RGB Value, Tolerance = 200, Fill style = Linear Gradient. Click on Options and select Direction = 180 Deg.

Step 4:
Fill the selected text by clicking the left mouse button in the selection.
It should now look like this:

Step 5:
Change background color to white.
Choose: Image - Deformations - Skew.
Set Horizontal = 45 and click OK.

Step 6:
Deselect the the text.
Choose: Image - Normal Filters - Soften More.
Do this procedure three times and you will get this result:

Step 7:
Click on the Text tool and choose the same options as the first time. Move the new text to fit the perspective shadow. Keep it selected.

Step 8:
Change foreground color to dark red: R = 90, G = 0, B = 0.
Use the Flood Fill button, Fill style = Solid Color. Fill the new text with the dark red color. Then deselect the text.
Change foreground color to a light red: R = 255, G = 150, B = 150 and background color to a dark red: R = 128, G = 0, B = 0. Click on the Text tool again and use the same options as previously. Place the new text slightly to the left of the first, like this:

Step 8:
Use the Flood fill tool, Fill style = Linear Gradient with Options: Direction = 180 Deg. Fill the selected text.
Choose: - Image - Special Filters - Add Noise.
Select Uniform and % Noise = 40. Do not select.

Step 9:
Choose Image - Normal Filters - Soften.
Then Image - Special Effects - Hot Wax Coating.
Deselect and thatīs it.
