Conquest Ceremony
Benguela South & North

The Conquest Ceremony of Benguela North & South went exceptionally well. At sunset on the 26th of July Benguela Ladonia was officially opened as the Embassy of Ladonia on Gotland. Performing the ceremony was the ambassadeur on Gotland, Görel the Priestess. Judicial representative from Sweden was Catrin Jönsson, Lund. An audience concisting of the local tribe of Klintehamn were breathtaken by the apparence of the ceremony mistresses in their fabulous red outfits with golden stars. It was a very touching moment, and our hearts leaped up as we performed the national anthem. The ceremony was followed by a spontaneous parade through the streets of Visby, were people we met did their best to join in on the hymn, though a bit backwards (throwing water on rocks instead of the opposite).

Background
About the same time as Ladonia started to grow, there was a terrible storm in the Baltic Sea. Ever since that night, Benguela is stranded on a sandreef just outside the harbour of Klintehamn on the gotlandic west coast. She used to be a cargo vessel, her last cargo consisting of lifegiving oat. Today, she has broken into two parts,South and North Benguela. Nobody ever claimed possession of her, therefore we do not upset anyone by this enlargement of Ladonia. Benguela may be visited - by swimming or rowing a boat, or during very cold winters, by skating. The location is naturally protected from pyromanic attacks, as there is water all around. Benguela serves as an opposite to Nimis in a poethic way - Nimis is growing in an uthopian dream, while Benguela is Atlantis, sinking, deminishing, in slow-motion.
