My paternal grandfather:
Axel Eriksson
was born in Forssa parish, Flen in Södermanland.Here you will find soldiers from Södermanland and among other things a few generations of saddlers named König
My paternal grandmother:
Elisabeth Gustavsson
was born in Österbybruk in Film parish, Uppland.Her ancestors were blacksmiths for many centuries and they belonged to a Walloon-family named Goffin or Gauffin. They came to Sweden from north of France in the 16th century.
There are also many branches to other Walloon-families.
However Elisabeth's father and his ancestors came from Hyltinge parish in Södermanland nearby the place where Elisabeth died, only 34 years old.
My maternal grandfather:
Oskar Ekström
was born in Ripsa parish situated between Nyköping and Flen in Södermanland.Here you will find crofters and farmers from Ripsa and other parishes around Flen Two brothers emigrated, one to Norway and one to the States.
The Norwegian branch is easy to follow and quite recently we have also solved what happened to Oskar's American brother. Unfortunately that branch is now extinct.
Oskar and his brothers were born Anderson but three of them changed to other family names. Oskar was one of them and he changed to Ekström.
In 1963 I changed my name from Erikson to my mother's maiden name Ekström. Consequently my family name only goes back to my grandfather.
My maternal grandmother:
Augusta Wik
was born in Gryt parish in Södermanland.Also here there are many crofters and farmers. There are also a couple of generations of soldiers named Wik. The first one was born in Uppsala but there I can't find him.
For this database I have for some parts used the Swedish Genealogy Program DISGEN7,0c, produced by The Computer Genealogy Society of Sweden (DIS).
Also look at my Ingvar's Genealogy Database! It consists of approx 6500 people, including also my ancestors but not as detailed as you will find on this page.
