Mitt namn är Gary, och jag har cancer. Jag har genomgått 4 operationer sedan den 27:e novmber 2002 varav den sista, i mars, var för att ta bort den elakartade tumören, och tog 4 timmar att utföra. Just nu har jag en cellgiftsbehandling att avsluta som sträcker sig fram till den 7:e oktober 2003. OK. Men varför denna sida? Dels vill jag uppmarksamma just hur läkarna, under ett drygt halvår, missade de symptomen jag hade samt varna folk för att se upp för signalerna och lita på sin kropp.

Jag kommer att cykla VätternRundan och VasaTrampet i år för att samla in pengar till Cancerfonden, och vill naturligtvis att du/ni som läser detta stoppar handen i fickan, plånboken, spargrisen, syltburken m.m. och ger vad du/ni kan för detta värdiga ändamål.

För egentligen, det viktigaste för mig är: Om bara en persons liv kan räddas pga av det jag gör här, eller pga pengarna inskickade till min insamling så har allt det här varit värt besväret. Inte det rätta ordvalet egentligen, för det är inget besvär. Det är för viktigt för att anses så.

My name is Gary and I have cancer. I've had 4 operations since November 27th 2002, the last of which was to take away the malignant tumour that had been growing inside me for the previous 2 years and took 4 hours to perform. Right now I am having a course of chemotherapy in Sweden which will last up untill October 7th. So why this site. Mainly I want people to be able to see the signals their bodies may be sending them. My doctors missed my symptons and were looking for other explanations than cancer. I guess they thought I was too young for this sort of thing (39).

On June 13th 2003 I Will be attempting to cycle the 300kms around Lake Vättern in Sweden (together with about 15,000 others) and the VasaTrampet bike race and in doing so trying to raise money for cancer research in Sweden. Of course, I'd like everyone who reads this to stick their hand in their pocket and give what they can to this worthy cause. This however may be a problem for those living outside Sweden. Still, it may be possible over the net what do i know.

Most of the info in this site is in Swedish, that's mainly because I live here, and it's aimed at the people in Sweden. I can name that my sister is helping me arrange a charity concert in Londons Camden Town, for Colon Cancer Research and the Royal Free Hospital which was where I was treated. I can also mention that she has just gotten Bill Oddie of "The Goodies" fame to compare for the evening!! So things are looking up :o)
