The Watchman

From the snow capped mountains and ice frosted
valleys of the far north to the lush green jungles
and vast deserts of the deep south, I, Razaal, Father
Sky and walker amongst mankind have seen it all.
My purpose in life from the very beginning was a
very special purpose indeed. For I, unlike my
brothers and sisters was created to live amongst my
father’s people, to live amongst them and to report
back to the spiritual glow with news of their progress.
I was also created to look down upon my father’s
masterpiece (Zeera, my sister, Mother Earth, Planet
Earth.) And I was destined to keep score of the game
of Chance.

My father was, is and always shall be free of all evil.
His children never were, are or shall be free of all
evil. From the water masses came the land and the land
provided life for countless creations. Now, to the South
of a land upon Planet Earth three hills a millennia ago
were created- one for The All Powerful, one for the
prince of darkness and one for myself.
The birth of a people I witnessed, the beginning of Zeést.
And in time, a lost name that was to become Kings Hill.

Two extracts from The Watchman

The very next day I became Father Sky, and I was surprised to find that Planet Earth was no longer shrouded in darkness. No longer was I lacking in form. I was mighty, and varying in colour. Zarina sat with me, she became the sun. And Zarluus by night, she became the moon. Rodaal and Ratzia became th stars, Roiazalu the other planets and Razmi, the Milky Way. Sometimes my view of Planet Earth was hindered by clouds of fluffy greys and whites. And sometimes the earth opened itself up and spewed out rivers of oranges and reds. I rained down upon the earth and gradually huge craters and valleys filled with water. The waters rose and still I rained down. Zarina kept me company by day and her rays of sunshine complimented my life giving rain drops. At night I rested with Zarluus, Rodaal, Ratzia, Roiazalu and Razmi. Sometimes we would tell stories and The All Powerful would come to visit. I was young and so was Planet Earth. The waters were fresh and new, and the air was clear.
I loved my brothers, and sisters and never once did we grow tired of each other. Days and nights came and went, seasons changed and years passed. Then again The All Powerful took me aside. He asked me if I was happy as Father Sky, and of course I replied, "I am." He asked me if I liked what I saw and again I replied, "I am." He told me that it was time, that the waters were deep and ready to give life. Told me that Mother Earth was about to fulfil her primeval obligation and that I was about to become the guardian of my creator’s work. For a long time I saw little change, although Zeera assured me that she could feel life in her watery depths. She promised me that one day I would see it. That one day life would conquer the land and that birds would fly in my body.

I, Razaal, Father Sky and walker amongst mankind knew nothing of my evil brother’s doing, but I felt great sadness at what I saw below me. I saw husband strike wife and I saw brother kill brother. I saw lies and I saw great pain. I saw rulers rise and become kings over peoples, and I saw peoples turned into slaves to fulfil kingly lusts. The All Powerful came to me once more and I went with him back to the spiritual glow. He told me that my brother was responsible for the things that I had seen below me. He told me that Radal had changed his name to Satan and he told me that Satan would forever be my bitter enemy. He told me that Satan would use cunning and stealth to find my weaknesses, and that I must always be strong and never let down my guard. He told me that I was different from my other brothers and sisters. Told me that I had been chosen, groomed and raised to go up against Satan and his devil army. Told me that my job would not be an easy one, that I would have to go to Satan’s world and report back. I didn’t leave immediately, I rested for seven days and seven night, and I left with a new brother. The All Powerful Told me that my new brother would guide me and turn my fears into strength. His name was Courage and he was brave and strong. He, also like me, lacked form. On the eighth day we set off and The All Powerful wished us a hasty return. It was a long journey and I just followed Courage through the Universe. We often grew tired and found ourselves in need of rest. Courage didn’t talk a lot, but I liked him all the same.
"How do you know where we’re going? There’s nothing but The All Powerful’s creation out here," I said on many occasions.
"Trust me, be strong," was always his reply. We carried on through star system after star system, and finally we reached darkness.
Then Courage sat me down and he explained to me that we had reached the end of creation.
"You must be brave," he said to me.
"I am by your side and I shall lead you to Satan’s world. When we arrive I shall enter you and we shall become as one. I am Courage and I was created to serve you. I am the cradle that will rock you, the pillar that will keep you standing tall. I am the water that will bathe you, the air that you will breath and I am the light in your darkness. I shall give you strength when yours is all but gone, and I shall help you find your way back to the spiritual glow."
