| History: |
After almost total annihilation at the hands of their own creation, the Protoss, the Xel'Naga escape
across the galaxy. After time the Xel'Naga decide that their mistake
in creating the Protoss was that they were too perfect, too smart and
two powerful. They decide that they can remedy their errors and
create the Zerg. The Xel'Naga
designed the Zerg to have total purity
of essence giving them the gift of a
collective consciousness and the
ability to assimilate other species'
DNA to bcome stronger and smarter
over time hoping this accelerated
evolution was the key to the ideal race
they sought. The Xel'Naga once again
went to live among their creation they
were again met with the same sense
of reverence. But soon the Zerg began
to resent their creators and soon
attacked. Far outnumbering the
Xel'Naga the Zerg soon overcame them and completely eradicating
them. Boarding the Xel'Naga ships the Zerg soon assimilated the
technology and soon were capable of growing new ships. With ever
growing numbers and an urge to follow a strange pull. The Zerg began
to move, in to the paths of the Protoss and Terrans.
It is clear that they are a very cunning species, and they are capable
of higher reasoning. Although they do not use technology that we
know of, they demonstrate a clear understand of it, and have been
known to open airlocks and doorways in colonies that they have
raided. As a group they also react intelligently to attacks and
demonstrate a clear understanding of tactical combat." Forensic
evidence shows that the large blade-like claws on one species
(hydralisk) have a razor-sharp edge and a toughness matched only
by modern composite materials. Locations that the Zerg have
inhabited become infested by a thick, living substance dubbed "the Creep". |
| Gameplay: |
| Numbers, huge numbers of units will be the key to the Zerg's success. Units and buildings are not trained, they are grown, they are cheap and are quick to obtain. While new units are weak their numbers will do well to overwhelm opponents. Those Zerg that do survive to adulthood become powerful weapons of war not to be taken lightly. Zerg players need lots of resources, time and successful unit management. Well managed the Zerg can become a nearly unstoppable living breathing weapon. |
