The first time...
... I came in contact with Vince Clarke was actually through my (6 year) older brother Mikael. This was kinda strange since he was mostly listening to a completely different kind of music. In the 70's and early 80's he was listening to Kiss, The Sweet, Dire Straits and Def Leppard, to name a few. But he was listening to pop and such as well so every once in a while I would go through the records that he brought home from friends and occationally I would find something nice to tape.
This was just what happened that time back in 1981 when my brother brought home a record with songs titled "Puppets", "Boys say go", "Just can't get enough" and "Photographic". Well, as true fans of Vince Clarke and Erasure you know I'm talking about Depeche Mode's "Speak and spell".
I taped about 7 songs from the album and played them over and over for maybe a year or so. Then I forgot about it. I had no idea that I, a few years later, would be addicted to the music that this blond keyboardist were composing... Who would have known?
