Interview w. Andy and Aldo
from Secret Sphere

This is an e-mail interview so there aren't any "follow up" questions, naturally..

F: How did Secret Sphere start in the first place? And when?

Andy: Secret Sphere starts in july 1997 with a great passion for hard rock and heavy metal music... september 1998 was the our first step... We recorded our first demo tape "Between Story And Legend". The demo was very well reviewed everywhere. This demo caught also the attention of elevate record and in june 1999 we recorded at 'New Sin' studio our first full lenght "Mistress Of The Shadowlight".

F: Are you still the original members or have you had some changes during the time?

Aldo: There are two changes in Secret Sphere line-up, the first was when Paco replaced Gianmaria at the rhythm guitar and second when Luca replaced Cristiano, our old Drummer.

F: Do you have any special influences, bands or other?

Andy: Many bands are important for us, we have different influences, and we put all this in our music.
For example for Aldo are 'Dream Theater', 'Symphony X', 'Angra', 'Helloween' important and some great Hard Rock bands like 'Whitesnake' or 'Mr. Big', while I like a lot 'Blind Guardian', 'Savatage', 'Virgin Steele', and also I love Hard Rock music like 'Motley Crue', 'Guns n' Roses' and 'Skid Row' for example.

F: Do you know any selling-rates for your first album "Mistress Of The Shadowlight"?

Aldo: We have sold about 15000 copies of our debut "Mistress..", a good result for a debut album and we are very satisfied! We have more expectations for the new album.

F: When will you release your new album?

Aldo: The new album will be out in March the 26th, we have recorded it at new 'New Sin Studios' with Luigi Stefanini. We spent one month in studio where we have worked in harmony.

F: Why did you end up playing on that Helloween tribute? And why did you choose "How Many Tears"?

Andy: We had choosen "How Many Tears" because it is a great song. This is one of our favorite 'Helloween' songs. I don't know why we are on the tribute. Probably it's a choose of the label Arise Records.

F: Will you make a tour outside Italy after the release of the new album?

Aldo: We are planning a tour in Europe, we are waiting the response from the agency. We hope to support some great band like Savatage!! Probably if the sell rates of "A Time Never Come" will be very good we will have many chances to play in different countries!!

F: Do you write your songs alltogether or do you have a main composer?

Andy: All songs borns from an idea of a single member like a guitar riff or a melody and then we all create the music alltogheter. Then we write the lyrics and we arrange this on to Rob's vocal melodies.

F: Are there any songs on "Mistress.." That you concider are better than the others?

Aldo: No, I think that all the songs are better at the same! Probably there's a period of that I listen one more than the others but all for me are good, in every song there are parts of every member of the band and it's very hard say which is the best.

F: If you could choose one big band to tour with. What band would it be?

Andy: There are many great bands to make a great tour with.
For example I can say 'Savatage', 'Helloween', 'Blind guardian' and many others. My dream is a tour with Iron Maiden or with all the bands with a great audience. Or play a song with Motley Crue or Kiss. for my dreams. eh eh eh eh..

Aldo: My Dream is a tour with 'Dream Theater' or 'Malmsteen', and I dream of playing "Skin 'o My Teeth" with 'Megadeth'!

F: If you want to say anything to the fans, here is a good opportunity :)

Aldo: A Big thanks to the metalheads that love Secret Sphere, thanks for the support, we will meet in future !!!!
Thanks and a kisses to all the metalgirls!!!!!

Andy: We wanna kick you fuckin ass on tour our friends!!!!!! See you on stage!!!! Thanx for all!!!!!!
