7.62 RK 56 TP
In the mid 90īs Finland ordered itīs new finnish-made Sako RK 95, praised by some
to be the best Kalashnikov-version ever made. However quality costs. At this point the arnament
of the finnish homeguard and second-line troops was extremely obsolote, bolt-action rifles and so on. And
somehow Finland
got an offer from China, an offer the politicians couldnīt resist, atleast hundred thousand Norinco
56-2īs was bought, "almost for free" as it was put. The later version Type 56-2īs doesnīt have the fixed bayonet
as the earlier ones, and it also have a side-folding stock (hence the designation TP), this is generally however a little too short for western
europeans. So instead of getting the worlds
best Kalashnikov Finland probably ended up with the worst, in terms of quality. They are stored for the eventuality
of a war, when they would be handed out to homeguard and second-line units.
