7.62 RK 76
Together with RK 62 this assault rifle is used as the standard individual arnament of the Finnish
soldier. The weapon can be described as a simplified RK 62. Not all, but most of the
RK 76īs uses a stamped receiver rather than a milled one, just as in AKM. This makes the weapon easier,
and more cheap to produce. It also makes the weapon lighter. On the downsides
is that the stamped receiver makes the weapon less durable than the RK 62, even if the quality
is still way above most of the AKMīs. But it seems that RK 62 with its milled receiver is still more common as active service
rifles, while RK 76īs are stored for the eventuality of a war. It was also introduced with a slightly improved handguard than those found on
the early RK 62īs. As with the RK 62 most of the weapons has a fixed stock. The hollow tube contains the cleaning kit. The folding stock version (TP) is used mainly by units that really need them for practical reasons, such as the paratroopers.
