9.00 M80 Pistol
The "High Power" by Browning was adopted by the Belgian army in 1935 and the pistol
have since then been in service all over the world. It was used in limited numbers
by Finland already during the second world war, when it was popular among pilotes.
However a slightly more modern version with double action (FN HP-DA) was adopted
by the army in the 80īs. In peacetime pistols are mainly used by the military
police. In case of war it will not be issued in very large numbers since most
have an assault rifle anyway, but it would be used as a secondary arnament, and
a primary arnament of field priests and so forth. The pistol is battle-proven
and very reliable. Today in Finland it is used only by the army (the Air Force,
the Navy and the border guards use Glock 17). Altough a good weapon it will be
replaced supplemented by Walther P99 in some units, mainly the special forces.
