Welcome to the fantastic world of digital music!
Having a lot of MP3's, MOD's and like laying around, useless without
turning the computer on?
The noise and work around the PC holds You off listening?
Now, there is an end to it!
A powerful stand-alone computer specially designed for just listening
to all this music hidden in MP3's and various tracker formats.
That's what PowerAmp is about!
System Description
The entire design is based at a single-board
PC from AAEON. It is almost a complete
PC with all interfaces integrated. To make a working PC out of it, only power
and necessary cables are needed. But to suite this project, some more have to
be done.
The first and major problem is the user interface. To put up a complete set of
screen, keyboard and mouse together with the HIFI is not the best idea. So a new
interface is needed, and one that gives the system more feel of HIFI than computer.
Here comes the PC-board's special feature in use - the PC/104 bus.
This project is large so I have splitted the description in several parts to
reduce load time and make it more readable. Follow the links below to get to
each part of the design.
* The Motherboard - AAeon PCM-6890
* The Power Supply - Complete with ATX soft
power on/off
* The I/O Hardware for display and keyboard
* Cooling a CPU without noise
* User Interface for the LCD
Schematics will appear at this page when the player works.
