I type this letter to accompany the letter on the reverse side (turn over) that I received from UNISOUND RECORDS 2 days ago. I feel that since UNISOUND wants to start an anti-Shadowcaster campaign that I'd help them. For I regard Unisound as a completely uncredible and untrustworthy label, as do many others who have dealt with them. Even bands like Mortuary Drape and Equinox can justify these claims... they both had releases put out on Unisound. (There are many others.) The letter I got shows the attitude of these assholes, and their empty unfrightening threats to destroy my name. In September 1995 I signed to Unisound. Master DAT's were sent to them promptly, and I was told a CD release date of JANUARY 1996. Months went by. Then Panos tells me he's having someone paint a picture for the cover... and he wants a simpler logo... I just wanted the fucking CD to come out! By then I began hearing about other bands' problems with UNISOUND. The CD finally came out in July. Of course I had no say in what cover or logo to use, since Unisound apparently know what best!!! The cover art and logo that I submitted were ignored. And the trendy dark castle painting was used with a boring logo (neither of which I saw until the CD was released!). The lyrics are out of order in the digipak (with typos) and there is no contact address, no credits, nothing! Just lyrics, an unlabelled picture (the wrong one) and cheezy cover art by some unknown artist! Cold Meat Industry got their copies from Unisound, and they listed it as a Greek band! On all bio's I printed, I updated and explained these problems. All of it is truth. No slander, no lies. Panos also owed me 200 free CD's as part of our contract. Then he tells me he'll send me 250 free CD's if I'll pay the postage for them, which he told me would be at most $100. At first I said no, but the delays continued. I finally agreed in September 1996 out of desperation to get my fucking CD's! In mid October my CD's arrived in the WRONG FUCKING CITY!!! Instead of arriving here in Rochester, they sent them to New York City (which is between 7-9 hours away)!!! So I had to get the packages transferred. I had to make about two weeks worth of phone calls (long distance) to New York City, the London office of the cargo company, and to Unisound in Greece. My girlfriend sent Panos 2 faxes explaining that they fucked up and needed to help me get a transfer. I also called them. THEY DID NOT DO SHIT! The left me fucked. After nearly leaping through the phone and decapitating the stupid bitches at the London office, I did get some manager to transfer my stuff without Unisound's documentation. Upon finally arriving here, the cost of postage was $360.00!!! Including the $150.00 phone bill I got in November, they were expensive FREE CD's! I never even began an anti-Unisound campaign. I simply stated truth on bio's and ads (documented). So I feel honoured to have Unisound spread their anti-Shadowcaster shit to their 2,000 people. It's free publicity and also will show all what this label is about. You have my story (most of it) and if any details are left unanswered, I WELCOME ALL QUESTIONS AND INTERROGATIONS! I have nothing to hide. This letter from Unisound was sent after a stupid attempt on my part to see if they'd do a second CD (as was contractually intended). What the hell was I thinking? I do not know. I implore all labels and distributors to stay away from ALL dealings with Unisound and deal only with the BANDS that unfortunately signed with Unisound. This label does NOT represent what the bands do. Ask other bands... here are some other addresses you can write to for further verification: MORTUARY DRAPE c/o Walter Maini, Via del Coniglio 98, 15100 Alessandria, Italy. Shit, I don't have time or space to list 20 addresses... find and write to Equimanthorn, Equinox, Necromass, Dauthus zine editor Timo (he knows bands/people fucked by them), etc. etc. etc. SPREAD THIS FLYER!!! PHOTOCOPY BOTH SIDES AND SPREAD IT EVERYWHERE! SEND IT TO EVERYONE YOU WRITE TO! SEND IT TO EVERY FUCKING LABEL AND DISTRIBUTOR YOU BUY FROM! All correspondence is welcome to also write to me at: SHADOWCASTER P.O. Box 174 North Greece, N.Y. 14515 U.S.A. I'm curious to know what UNISOUND can possibly write about me. I've done nothing to them. So if Unisound never responds back to me, will someone w ho's received the anti-SHADOWCASTER package please send me one for my collection? It's nice to know I'm that hated by a bunch of Greek idiots called Unisound. Printed by Mikael September 1997
