Altemark is a person. The person creates electronic music. The music is available here.

Inspiration is drawn from many different sources. The feelings of anger and angst from both the hell of everyday life aswell as roots in the fiery music of hardcorepunk and crust. The shape and form of the comfy chair-electronica known as IDM and the likes of. The thoughts and message from social struggles from all over the world.

Why? Because for me it's about making free music rather than making money by it. Besides, I enjoy making music. I sure hope you will enjoy listening to it.

Music is communication: Mikael@altemark.se

All songs were created using buzztracker, fasttracker and various softsynths 1996-2000.

Creating Dissent 2.9 meg

"There is no doubt that one of the major issues of the 20th century history is corporate propaganda. It's goal from the beginning, perfectly openly, clearly and consciously was to 'control the public mind', as they put it. The reason for this was that the public mind was seen as the greatest threat to the corporations." - Noam Chomsky

About the violent repression by riot police of the protests against the neoliberal policies of the World Trade Organization, Seattle, November 30, 1999. MP3 is Killing the Music Industry - And it's About Time 3.8 meg

Two years ago 6 giant corporate conglomerates controlled more than 90% of the market of the music industry. Today there are 5. Tomorrow there will be 4. Catch my drift? These enourmous private tyrannies are guilty of both removing the right of cultural choice for all of us aswell as exploiting the artists. As rap-artist Chuck D aptly expresses it in Schwindlers Lust: 'A dollar rhyme while we barely get a dime'. MP3 presents us with a excellent opportunity to bring back the music to the artists and the consumers, to the benefit of all.

A shadow on a wall 4.5

The 6th of August 1945. One second a little japanese girl existed in flesh and blood. The next second, she existed only as shadow on a wall. Worth noting is that her brother became sisterless even though the Allied forces via military intelligence knew that the japanese emporer had decided to surrender. No more. Never again.

Some of us aren't oppressed just because we are working class, but because we are born with a darker shade of skin colour or with a womb.

For 9 hours a day, most of us surrender our body to a totalitarian institution in exchange for a wage. We sell ourselves in order to have the privilege of being exploited. We are transformed from human beings into commodities which can be bought and sold according to the whims of those in power.

Property is Theft 2.5 meg

This phrase is one of the more famous ones that the french anarchist Pierre Joseph Proudhon produced during his life time. It's just as true today. Property in this case is to be understood as workplaces, ie means of production, not private possessions.

Feelings of being rejected, lost and alone.

A decent society 3.1 meg

"If it is correct, as I believe it is, that a fundamental element of human nature is the need for creative work, for creative inquiry, for free creation without the arbitrary limiting effects of coercive institutions, then of course it follows that a decent society should maxmize the possibilities for this fundamental human characteristic to be realized."
