Our Cars
My Corvair is a 1963 Monza Coupe 927 with the 102 hp engine and 2spd
Powerglide automatic transmission. VIN is 30927W151301 (the 51301:th made
at Willow Run in 1963)
Mikael Dahlin and Carina (his wife) owns two Corvairs. The one depicted
below is his 1960 4 door, recently restored from being totally dismantled!
There's a lot of pictures on this page so it will take a while (roughly
2 min with a normal modem) to load, but if you're interested in Stockholm
as well as Corvairs, it will be worthwhile I hope. At the end comes the
story how I came to buy a Corvair...

So, how did I get interested in Corvairs?
Well, I have actually kept my eyes open for a year or so for a suitable
object. In my case I had choosen three cars; Alfa Romeo Bertone, VW Karmann-Ghia
or Volvo P1800 (you know that little sport volvo "the Saint" had), all
from the early 60's. Well no-one ever showed up in the ads for the right
price but suddenly a friend of mine called (Mikael) and had spotted the
corvair ad. Beautiful car I thought and I knew some about it already becuse
of my friend that had (and still has) a black coupe '63 (and the Sedan).

From left to right: Alfa Bertone, Karmann-Ghia and
Volvo P1800, sleek arent they?
So that was it, I went to the town Söderhamn in April 97 (a couple
of hours north of Stockholm) and decided almost immediatly - this will
be my baby! Maybe because of the fact that the car is lesser known (here)
than the other three, the price was really good. And I have certainly not
regret it! It has a more powerful engine, contains more innovative features
than all the other three from comparable years. And yet, is as good-looking
sleek 60's style, just the way I like'em...
